CG's Biography

Ferhat Alkan assumed his duties as the Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in Houston as of October 1, 2014.
He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Turkey in 2001. His previous assignments are as follows:

2001-2004     Iraq Political Department, Deputy Directorate General for Middle East, MFA

2004-2007     Turkish Embassy in Kabul/Afghanistan

2007-2009     Turkish Embassy in Washington, DC/USA

2009-2011     Deputy Directorate General for Iraq, MFA

2011-2014     Chief of Protocol to the President, President’s Office

He was born in Kayseri. He received his BA in International Relations from Middle East Technical University in the year 1999. He completed his MA in European Union and Integration at the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2001.

He is married to Özlem Alkan.
